Like Twitter and Meta’s new social media platform Threads, Bluesky is a text-based microblogging platform. It’s currently in beta.

How do I get on Bluesky?

Because Bluesky is in beta right now, you’ll need an invitation code to create an account. There are two ways to get an invitation code:

• Get someone who’s already on Bluesky to give you an invitation code
• Join the waitlist and be wait for the Bluesky team to send you one

It’s probably faster to know someone already on Bluesky, because lots of people are on the waitlist and existing users on Bluesky get an invite code every two weeks.

Why are posts on Bluesky called skeets?

Look, I have no clue. But in my opinion they should definitely be called skreams.

How do I send a private message to someone?

Bluesky doesn’t have private messaging. You’ll need to use a different platform to message people privately.
