So you’ve gotten an invite code for Bluesky and you’re ready to get started skeeting. Head over to bsky.app or download the Bluesky mobile app and get started with the sign up process!
Your user handle on Bluesky will be an important part of your identity, so choose it wisely. It’ll probably look something like this: @youruserhandle.bsky.social. The part you choose is the “youruserhandle” part.
<aside> 💡 You can change your user handle later, but be careful! Changing it might confuse the people you know on Bluesky, especially if a stranger starts using your old user handle.

The part of your user handle you can choose must start with a letter and can only contain lowercase letters 🔤, numbers 🔢, and the hyphen symbol (-).
Feeds are a curated selection of skeets on Bluesky. Depending on the feed, they might be focused on skeets from users of a certain cultural background, skeets in a certain language, or skeets concerning a certain interest. They are a central part of the Bluesky experience.
Here are some great feeds to help you get started. To add a feed, click on the feed’s link to visit its page. Then, click the black Add to My Feeds button at the top of the page.
You don’t have to add all of these feeds, and there are many more great feeds that aren’t listed here. You can learn more about feeds and how to discover new ones here.
Now that you’ve added some feeds, you can pin your favorites so that you can conveniently access them from your home page. Return to the “My Feeds” page in the app, then click on the settings cog ⚙️ at the top right of the page. You’ll see a list of all the feeds you’ve added. Click on the gray thumbtack icons to toggle them to “pinned”. The icon will turn blue. You can unpin the feed by clicking the thumbtack icon again.
Return to your home page by clicking the Home option in the left sidebar. You’ll see all the feeds you pinned as tab options at the top of the screen.
If you were invited to Bluesky by someone, you’ve probably already followed that person.
However, if you’re not sure how to follow someone, here’s how: When you see someone you want to follow, click on their username or portrait to view their profile. Then click the black + Follow button at the top right of their profile.
